Laser Range Finder Miniaturization Plays a New Style

Laser range finder is an instrument that uses laser to measure the distance of target accurately. The laser rangefinder emits a very fine laser beam to the target while it works. The laser beam reflected by the target is received by the photoelectric element. The time from the launch to the reception of the laser beam is measured by the timer, and the distance from the observer to the target is calculated.


If the laser is continuously emitted, the range can reach about 40 kilometers, and the operation can be carried out day and night. If the laser is pulsed, its absolute accuracy is generally low, but it can achieve good relative accuracy for long-distance measurement.

 

The first laser in the world was developed by the scientist Mayman of Hughes Aircraft Company in 1960. The U.S. military soon launched research on laser devices on this basis. In 1961, the first laser rangefinder passed the U.S. military demonstration test, and the laser rangefinder soon entered the practical complex.


Laser range finder is light in weight, small in volume, simple in operation, fast and accurate, and its error is only one fifth to one hundred of other optical rangefinders. It is widely used in topographic surveying, battlefield surveying, ranging of targets by tanks, aircraft, warships and artillery, and measuring the height of clouds, aircraft and satellites, etc. It is an important technical equipment to improve the accuracy of tanks, aircraft, ships and artillery.


As the price of laser rangefinder is decreasing, laser range finder is gradually used in industry. At home and abroad, a number of new micro-rangefinders with the advantages of fast ranging, small size and reliable performance have emerged, which can be widely used in industrial measurement and control, mining, port and other fields. Now, laser range finders are becoming more common, and they have entered ordinary people's homes to help quickly solve the maintenance problems in life.
